TFF President cannot enter the stadium unless he apologizes
Serdal Adalı, who will compete for the Beşiktaş presidency against Hasan Arat on December 3, made statements during a live broadcast he attended.
Serdal Adalı, who will compete against Hasan Arat in the presidential election to be held at Beşiktaş on Sunday, December 3, made statements during a live broadcast he attended.
Stating that he announced his presidential candidacy because the club needed it, Adalı began his remarks on Trtspor as follows;
“There is a deadline for official candidacy applications. We have been experiencing a problem over the past 3-4 months. The 20-22 day period you mentioned is just the final part. I have been following the troubles and problems of Beşiktaş. Starting election campaigns a year in advance is not something I would do. There are already 18 months until the normal election period. I don't lie in wait for an election time. When I saw the need, and there is a need, which is why this decision was made, I announced my candidacy. Mr. Hasan announced he would be a candidate 1.5 years ago. That is not my style either. We have a football team that we all want to be successful. I don't think about candidacy wondering if things might go poorly. There was a need, so I came. I had also been a candidate in previous periods because there was a need.”
“IF WE CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN EUROPEAN CUPS…”
Presidential candidate Adalı said, “We are working on how to get our football team back on its feet. Our coach Mehmet Özdilek is also working. The transfer window starts on January 11. We will evaluate it in the best way possible and get the team back on its feet. If we cannot participate in European cups, unfortunately, we will have to spend another 85 million euros to get an 85 million euro team back on its feet.”
“TFF PRESIDENT CANNOT ENTER THE STADIUM UNLESS HE APOLOGIZES”
“We only become champions when we unite. We forget about the outside world while stepping on our own feet. The TFF President will come to my home and wag his finger at me! This is what upsets me the most. How did they bring it to this point? If I am elected, the TFF President (Mehmet Büyükekşi) cannot enter that stadium unless he apologizes.”
“YOU WILL NOT HEAR ME SAY I INHERITED A WRECK”
“There is nothing more natural than my meeting with the coach. He is welcome to come and talk himself. They criticize me for becoming a candidate 22 days ago, but I am inside Beşiktaş. I am already living Beşiktaş. You will not hear me say I inherited a wreck. I also spoke with my coach Rıza. I wish he had been brought in the day after Şenol coach; we would have made a lot of progress. There are 2-3 good football players I remember for the mid-season transfer. We will find quality players in a very short time. I am happy that Rıza Çalımbay has taken charge of the team. Having him at the head of the team has relieved us. Coach Rıza has the Beşiktaş spirit, and he is a person who would say ‘friends, go about your business’ at a point where he cannot be useful.”
Adalı stated, “This debt is only being talked about with us. Is it only Beşiktaş’s debt that is high? They make these transfers, so why shouldn't we? We will do it too! This is the reason for the gap between us anyway. You cannot move forward by shrinking.”
“IF WE DO NOT MAKE 2-3 TARGETED TRANSFERS IN THE MID-SEASON…”
“It used to be Quaresma, now it is Talisca. The fans should rest easy. There are even better players. We had a need. I would have made the Ramos transfer because there was a need. It would also be a name that our fans would be happy about. Costs are solved somehow. How did our rivals get these players? I will get them too! I will pay from my own pocket, I will find a sponsor, I will get them! Isn't this Beşiktaş’s right? First, what the team needs will be determined. After that, if we need to part ways, we will. If we do not make 2-3 targeted transfers in the mid-season, this debt will collapse on us. Whatever our coach requests, we will go and get it. We can make a number 10, a center-back, and perhaps a winger transfer for Beşiktaş.”
“NO ONE SHOULD SELL DREAMS”
Regarding Hasan Arat’s promise to expand the stands behind the goal to increase stadium capacity, Adalı said, “I spoke with the stadium architect; no one should sell dreams. The gaps in that stadium cannot be closed! It is not permitted due to wind flow. Everyone should know this. However, we are carrying out work that will increase the stadium’s capacity to 52 thousand. Let’s bring it to 52 thousand so that no one has an excuse, so they don't say ‘it is not up to UEFA standards, that is why we cannot use it for finals.’ When I was the second president, I was also the TJK president. No one said, ‘he is the president there, did the work here get disrupted?’ In a place where I say I cannot manage something or it is falling short, I would give up everything for Beşiktaş, but I don't think that will be necessary. Mr. Hasan also has management roles in 3-4 large places; will he give those up too, will he resign? I am asking this as well.”
“THEY TRIED TO BLOCK OUR PATH THE YEAR WE WERE CHAMPIONS TOO”
“The primary reason for the situation reaching this point is the relations with the TFF. They tried to block our path the year we were champions too. We barely became champions by goal difference. Which club in Turkey gathered 28 thousand people for the first signing ceremony? They saw us and started doing it. The fans are 100% right about ticket prices! How can a student come to matches with these prices? The stands remain empty due to ticket prices. We are preparing for university students. We are setting up an application. We will make a price adjustment to a level that a student can afford. We will do whatever is necessary to bring this team up. If I were to count my friends, it would never end. These things happen with hard work. Our fans and our community should keep their hearts at ease. I will not waste a single lira of this club. We will create a team that they will be proud of in Turkey.”
