TFF unable to find referees following betting scandal: Appointments could not be made for those matches

Due to the ongoing betting scandal in Turkish football, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has taken a new decision. Because 149 referees named in the betting scandal have been penalized and investigations are continuing regarding 4 other referees, it was not possible to appoint referees for the U12 and U13 league matches scheduled to be played today.

MATCHES POSTPONED

The TFF has decided to postpone youth league matches due to a shortage of referees. Since no referee appointments could be made for today's matches, the federation decided to postpone the matches in question to a later date.

PENALTIES FOR REFEREES WHO PLACED BETS

The Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) imposed bans ranging from 8 to 12 months on 149 referees accused of placing bets. However, it announced that investigations are still ongoing regarding referees Zorbay Küçük, Melih Kurt, and Mercan Tubay.

STATEMENT FROM TFF PRESIDENT

TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu stated during a live broadcast he attended last night that the investigation into the betting scandal is not limited only to referees. Hacıosmanoğlu announced that information on 3,700 football players has been examined so far.
