According to the European Club Finance and Investment Landscape Report published by UEFA, Süper Lig teams constitute the league with the highest net equity losses in Europe based on their financial performance.

It was announced that Beşiktaş, Trabzonspor, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe, known as the "Big Four" in the Süper Lig, were among the teams with the highest net equity losses in Europe in 2023.

The "Big Four" found their place among the top 10 teams with the highest net equity losses in Europe in 2023.

Beşiktaş, the Turkish team with the highest net equity loss last year, ranked 4th in the top 10 with a deficit of 151 million euros, while Trabzonspor ranked 5th with a loss of 110 million euros, Galatasaray 6th with a loss of 109 million euros, and Fenerbahçe 7th with a loss of 82 million euros.

In a warning issued by UEFA, it was emphasized that clubs must strengthen their balance sheets to obtain club licenses in the future.

The club with the highest net equity loss in Europe last year was the Italian Serie A team Roma, with 436 million euros.

In addition to the 4 Turkish teams in the top 10, there are 3 teams from Italy and one each from Portugal, Israel, and Spain.

GALATASARAY AND TRABZONSPOR IN THE TOP 10 FOR LOSSES

According to the report, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor were also among the 10 teams that reported the highest losses in Europe last year.

Trabzonspor ranked 8th in Europe last year with a pre-tax loss of 53 million euros, while Galatasaray was the 9th club with the highest reported loss at 48 million euros.

The team that reported the highest loss in Europe last year was the English Premier League side Aston Villa. Aston Villa recorded a pre-tax loss of 138 million euros last year.

Among the top 10 teams that reported the highest losses in Europe last year, besides the 2 Turkish teams, there are 3 English, 3 Italian, one Portuguese, and one French team.

Trabzonspor ranked in the top 5 in Europe with an operating loss of 35 million euros in 2023.

Spain's Barcelona team tops the list with an operating loss of 179 million euros last year.

In the list, Roma with 53 million euros, Monaco with 41 million euros, and Aston Villa with 39 million euros in operating losses were the other teams in the top 5.

The Süper Lig has the highest number of clubs (18) with net equity losses among the 55 countries that are members of UEFA.

According to the latest data shared in the report, 18 clubs from the Süper Lig reached a total net equity loss of 814 million euros.

The Süper Lig was identified as the first-tier football organization where the highest number of teams (18) reported net equity losses.

Furthermore, according to the data disclosed in the report, it was stated that the Süper Lig ranks 4th among 55 countries in Europe with a gross bank debt of 1 billion euros for its teams.

Süper Lig teams ranked 11th with a squad cost of 157 million euros.
