The derby is over, the controversy is not! Dursun Özbek is heading to the TFF: Match referee Yasin Kol is on the agenda
While the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby ended in a 1-1 draw, referee Yasin Kol's decisions were met with backlash from the Galatasaray camp. President Dursun Özbek is heading to the TFF today to discuss the referee's performance.
The Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby was breathtaking yesterday.
The massive derby ended in a 1-1 draw with goals from Leroy Sane for Galatasaray and Jhon Duran for Fenerbahçe.
With this result, Cimbom maintained its lead, sitting 1 point ahead of Fenerbahçe in the 14th week of the league.
REFEREE DECISIONS HIGHLY DEBATED
Referee Yasin Kol's decisions during the match sparked harsh reactions from the Galatasaray side.
The yellow-reds' experienced head coach, Okan Buruk, also claimed in his post-match statement that there was discrimination, particularly regarding foul calls.
Buruk had said, "The referee overshadowed the match significantly. This was what was expected even before the match. Two of my players could have had their legs broken; Kazım could have lost an eye. There were 22 fouls called against us and 12 in our favor. I leave it to you to evaluate how we managed to get so few fouls despite taking so many kicks. Honestly, it was not a big surprise for us."
DURSUN ÖZBEK IS HEADING TO THE TFF
The referee debate continues today.
It has been learned that Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek and Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman Abdullah Kavukcu will visit the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) today at 14:00.
The number one agenda item of the meeting will be the decisions made by referee Yasin Kol during the derby match.
