Trabzonspor announces new signing
Trabzonspor has announced the signing of 22-year-old Chibuike Nwaiwu, who previously played for the Austrian club Wolfsberger AC. A long-term contract has been signed with the young footballer, and the financial details of the transfer have also been disclosed.
Trabzonspor has made one of the notable moves of the mid-season transfer window by adding Nigerian defender and midfielder Chibuike Godfrey Nwaiwu to its squad. It was stated that a 4.5-year agreement has been reached with the 22-year-old player.
In the statement made by the burgundy-blue club, it was noted: "An agreement has been reached with Wolfsberger AC for the permanent transfer of professional footballer Chibuike Godfrey Nwaiwu to our club. According to the agreement, a contract termination fee of 5,500,000 EUR will be paid to Wolfsberger AC in 7 (seven) installments."
Nwaiwu, who began his career at Heartland in Nigeria, played for his country's Enyimba team between 2022 and 2024. The young player, who transferred to the Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC at the beginning of 2024, has appeared in 12 matches for his team this season.
While the Trabzonspor management continues its policy of investing in young and high-potential players with the transfer of Chibuike Nwaiwu, the player's ability to perform in different positions stands out as a factor that provides versatility to the squad.
