Trabzonspor ends Fenerbahçe's streak in Kadıköy
Trabzonspor, visiting Fenerbahçe away from home, secured a historic victory by defeating their opponent.
In the 11th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe hosted Trabzonspor on their home turf. By defeating Fenerbahçe 3-2, Trabzonspor ended their opponent's 19-match winning streak in official matches this season.
The goals that led Trabzonspor to victory were scored by Paul Onuachu in the 10th minute, Berat Özdemir in the 46th minute, and Nicolas Pepe in the 47th minute. Fenerbahçe's only goals were scored by Dusan Tadic in the 61st and 90th minutes, both from penalties. In Fenerbahçe, İsmail Yüksek was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 78th minute, leaving his team with 10 men.
With this result, Fenerbahçe's 19-match winning streak in official matches this season and their 26-match unbeaten streak against their opponent in Kadıköy came to an end. Fenerbahçe, who entered the week as the leader with 30 points, lost the top spot to Galatasaray, who have 31 points. Trabzonspor increased their points to 19.
HISTORIC VICTORY AFTER 26 YEARS
Trabzonspor managed to win in Kadıköy against Fenerbahçe for the first time in 26 years. The Bordeaux-Blues last left the field with a 3-1 victory in Kadıköy during the league match played in the 3rd week of the 1997-98 season. Having left the field with 13 defeats and 12 draws in the 25 matches played since then, the Bordeaux-Blues defeated their opponent away from home after 26 years.
INCREDIBLE STREAK ENDS
Fenerbahçe's 19-match winning streak in official matches, which had a tremendous start to the season, ended against Trabzonspor. Fenerbahçe, who managed to win all 19 matches they played in the league and Europe this season, could not continue their streak after losing to Trabzonspor, whom they faced in their 20th match.
TRABZONSPOR FOUND THE FIRST GOAL EARLY
In the match where Fenerbahçe started with pressure, Trabzonspor found the first goal. Onuachu, who rose well in an empty position to meet the cross delivered by Edin Visca from the left wing, sent the ball into the net.
The first half of the match ended with this goal, with Trabzonspor leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF STARTED WITH CONSECUTIVE GOALS
Trabzonspor increased the lead to two with a goal they found right at the beginning of the second half. The Fenerbahçe defense tried to clear the cross made into the penalty area from the left wing. Berat's strike from outside the penalty area met the net.
After the ball was lost by Samet Akaydin, the lead increased to three. After the ball was won through pressing, Pepe scored his team's third goal with a strike on the ball turned into the penalty area by Abdülkadir Ömür, who entered from the left.
WON THE PENALTY, CONVERTED IT
Trying to reduce the deficit, Fenerbahçe found a goal with Tadic's penalty. After the struggle between Tadic and Mehmet Can, referee Zorbay Küçük pointed to the penalty spot. Tadic, who took the ball for the penalty, sent Uğurcan and the ball to different corners, reducing the deficit to two.
In Fenerbahçe, İsmail Yüksek was sent off after receiving a second yellow card following a foul on Trezeguet.
PENALTY RETAKEN
Fenerbahçe, left with 10 men, won another penalty in the final minute. Tadic took the ball once again for the penalty won after the foul by Mehmet Can on Crespo. The ball returned from the post in the penalty taken by Tadic. However, after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) warning, referee Zorbay Küçük ordered the penalty to be retaken. This time, Tadic sent the ball into the net, reducing the deficit to one.
The goal Trabzonspor found with Enis Destan in the stoppage time was canceled by referee Zorbay Küçük after a VAR warning, on the grounds that Trezeguet, who provided the assist, had committed a foul.
As there were no more goals in the remaining minutes, the match ended with a 3-2 victory for Trabzonspor.
