According to the statement released by the Turkish Football Federation, the following explanation was provided regarding the removal of the two players, who play for Galatasaray, from the squad:
"Barış Alper Yılmaz, who suffered a right hamstring injury during the match against Montenegro in Samsun, and Kaan Ayhan, who is suspended for the Iceland match after receiving a yellow card in the same game, have been removed from the preliminary squad."
