Ugly attack at women's football match in Yüksekova

The violent incidents that occurred during the Yüksekova Spor-Fenerbahçe ArsaVev match, held at the Şemdinli District Stadium in the 24th week of the Women's Football League, have drawn widespread condemnation from the sports community. During the match, an object thrown from the stands onto the pitch caused Fenerbahçe head coach Gökhan Bozkaya to be injured. Bozkaya remained on the ground for a while and was treated by medical teams.

The tension on the pitch was not limited to this. The live broadcast vehicle and equipment of FB TV, which was covering the yellow-and-navy team, were attacked during the match. Due to the incident, the live broadcast of the match had to be cut.

In a statement regarding the events, the Fenerbahçe club said, "The broadcast of the match our Fenerbahçe ArsaVev women's football team is currently playing against Yüksekova Spor in the Women's Super League at the Şemdinli District Stadium cannot be continued due to an attack on our live broadcast vehicle and equipment."

Fenerbahçe executive Ufuk Şansal, in a statement following the events, said, "I hope we can get out of here safely. I hope we can reach the airport without anything happening to us. Our coach Gökhan remained on the ground for 5 minutes after a hard object was thrown at his head from the stands. The heckling from the stands continues. We hosted them very well in Istanbul. We don't know what will happen at the end of the match. We don't know what will happen to us on the road. It wouldn't be right to blame the entire crowd; 4-5 people among them did this."

It is noted that these events following the match demonstrate that security measures in women's football need to be reviewed. The sports public is calling for the identification of those responsible for the incidents and for the necessary sanctions to be applied.
