Uğur Dündar’s harsh reaction to the referee: Did you sleep well, Meler?

Adana Demirspor and Fenerbahçe faced off in the 12th week of the Süper Lig, ending in a 0-0 draw. With this result, Fenerbahçe moved to the top of the table on goal difference.

Following the match, the Fenerbahçe camp expressed their reaction toward the match referee, Halil Umut Meler.

THE HIGHLY DISCUSSED INCIDENT

In the 73rd minute of the match, a tension arose between Fenerbahçe's Jayden Oosterwolde and Adana Demirspor's Belhanda following a challenge. At that moment, Adana Demirspor's Rodrigues grabbed Oosterwolde by the neck and threw him to the ground. Halil Umut Meler's failure to show a card to Rodrigues sparked debate in the sports community.

One reaction to Meler's decision came from Fenerbahçe High Council President Uğur Dündar.

"DID YOU SLEEP WELL, MELER?"

In a post on his social media account, Dündar stated the following;

"Halil Umut Meler, answer me! What were you waiting for to show a red card to the Adana Demirspor players who used violence by grabbing Oosterwolde by the throat and throwing him to the ground? Were you waiting for a young footballer to end up in the hospital? Or to receive blows that would end his athletic career? And then, did you sleep well?"
