Values of the 'Big 4' on the stock exchange revealed: Eternal rivals disappoint investors
Among the sports companies traded on Borsa Istanbul, Beşiktaş Futbol Yatırımları Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, which finished last month with a 24 percent increase, became the sports company that earned the most for its investors. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, on the other hand, lost value.
The share values of the 'Big 4' on Borsa Istanbul have been revealed. The sports index gained 9.5 percent in value last month.
While Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor pleased their investors in February, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray disappointed them.
Analysts stated that the 'Big 4' are among the 10 worst teams in Europe in terms of financial performance, noting that fiscal and financial difficulties have negatively affected the stock performance of sports companies.
Beşiktaş's shares rose by 24 percent last month, during which they transferred Jonas Svensson, Joe Worrall, Ernest Muçi, and Ali Muhammed Al-Musrati. The club also announced that they had signed a 3-year front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Beko and reached an agreement with Arçelik for kit sponsorship.
Beşiktaş, which defeated İstanbulspor 2-0 in the 27th week of the Süper Lig, extended its unbeaten streak in the league to 4 matches. The black-and-white team, which achieved a 4-match unbeaten streak for the first time this season, has secured its 3rd victory in its last 4 matches. Beşiktaş also advanced to the semi-finals of the Ziraat Turkish Cup by defeating TÜMOSAN Konyaspor 2-0.
TRABZONSPOR ON THE RISE
Shares of Trabzonspor Sportif Yatırım ve Futbol İşletmeciliği also gained 10.9 percent in value in February.
Trabzonspor, which beat Yukatel Adana Demirspor 1-0 in the 27th week of the Süper Lig, won 3 consecutive matches for the first time this season. The Black Sea team continues its contention in the league under the management of head coach Abdullah Avcı.
FENERBAHÇE AND GALATASARAY DISAPPOINT INVESTORS
Galatasaray Sportif Sınai ve Ticari Yatırımlar caused a loss of 2.4 percent, while Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ caused a loss of 6 percent for their investors.
Although Galatasaray is at the top of the Süper Lig, it could not satisfy its investors on the stock market. The club bid farewell to European competitions after losing 4-1 to Czech side Sparta Prague in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round, having won the first leg 3-2.
Fenerbahçe, the reigning champion of the Ziraat Turkish Cup, was eliminated from the cup this season in the quarter-finals after losing 3-0 to MKE Ankaragücü.
BEŞİKTAŞ EARNED 57 PERCENT
