Video review era begins at Wimbledon
Video Review Technology will be used at Wimbledon this season. Players will be able to challenge certain umpire decisions after a point.
A new practice regarding umpire decisions is being introduced at Wimbledon, which will be held for the 139th time this year. The tournament organization announced that Video Review Technology will be used starting this season.
In the statement, it was noted that players will be able to challenge certain decisions made by the umpire after a point has concluded and request a review. It was stated that players can either stop play immediately after a point or exercise their right to a review once the point is completed.
The system in question will be implemented on the tournament's prominent courts. Video Review Technology will be active on courts 1, 2, 3, 12, and 18, with Centre Court being the primary location.
The event, which will take place as the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, will be held between June 29 and July 12 this year.
