Vincenzo Montella: 'We want to play well and win against Georgia'

In the first match of Group F at the 2024 European Football Championship, the Turkish National Football Team will face Georgia tomorrow at 19:00 TSI at the BVB Dortmund Stadium.

Ahead of this match, Turkish National Football Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella held a press conference at the stadium where the match will be played.

Stating that Arda Güler is an important player for the national team, Montella said, "His participation in this tournament shows that he is a quality player. He came here with a winning mentality. He has shown a very eager performance so far. He is also an important player for the national team."
Noting that playing in Germany is an advantage, the Italian coach said, "The high number of Turkish fans is a significant responsibility. It is a source of pride to play in front of them. It is a match where we must also make our flag proud," he added.
Responding to a question about his squad choices, Vincenzo Montella said, "In this process, I had to leave some players out. I gave the example of England's Jack Grealish. Some players might be here, and some might not. The reason for this is strategy. It is the philosophy of the game. As you know, I wanted to reward the players who worked hard to get here during the group stage. Sometimes it can take a long time for some players to play for the national team," he replied.

Expressing that they experienced unfortunate injuries during the camp process, Montella said, "It affected us. These are things that happen in football. We have two important, strong full-backs like Ferdi and Zeki. Both are ready to play, but I don't want to risk both players at the same time."
The Italian head coach stated that their goal against Georgia is to play well and win.
