The claim that the number of districts in Istanbul is rising to 40 and that a new district is being created quickly created a stir.

The much-discussed claim had come from Sarıyer Gazetesi Editor-in-Chief Bekir Batu, but according to information Mynet obtained from official sources, it was learned that the claim in question is untrue.

According to the news that suddenly became a trending topic, it was stated that a new district would be established by merging some neighborhoods in the Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Kağıthane, and Eyüpsultan districts of Istanbul; however, it was soon learned that the claim was a 'fabricated' story.
