Who is Murat Çalık?
A graduate of the Istanbul Technical University Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Murat Çalık served as deputy mayor to Ekrem İmamoğlu between 2014 and 2018. He was elected Mayor of Beylikdüzü in 2019.
Murat Çalık was born in 1972 in the Maçka district of Trabzon. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maçka and his high school education at Trabzon High School. In 1997, he graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
He began his professional career in 1998 as a founding partner of a company operating in the urban planning sector. Between 2008 and 2014, he held positions such as manager and vice president at the Istanbul Branch of the Chamber of City Planners.
Having worked on the development of Beylikdüzü since 1999, Çalık served as the technical coordinator and deputy mayor to the then-Mayor of Beylikdüzü, Ekrem İmamoğlu, from 2014 to 2018. In the 2019 local elections, he was elected Mayor of Beylikdüzü from the Republican People's Party (CHP).
