45 kilos of cannabis seized at the border while being smuggled into Turkey
During a detailed search of a car attempting to enter Turkey from Serbia, 45 kilograms and 760 grams of cannabis were discovered hidden in secret compartments in the vehicle's bumper and floor. The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of customs officers and border police.
A driver holding both Albanian and Serbian citizenship, who wanted to enter Turkey from Serbia by car, was stopped at the Bulgarian customs office opposite Kapıkule. The vehicle, which was flagged by risk analysis, was referred to customs control for a detailed inspection.
DETECTOR DOG ALSO JOINED THE SEARCH
A narcotics detector dog named Pirin also took part in the search conducted by customs officers and border police teams. During the inspection of the vehicle, suspicious packages were found in factory-made cavities in the floor section and bumpers of the car.
107 PACKAGES OF DRUGS SEIZED
A total of 107 packages of dried green plant material were identified during the check of the hidden compartments. A rapid drug test conducted at the scene confirmed that the substance was cannabis.
It was reported that the gross weight of the seized drugs was 45 kilograms and 760 grams, and their market value was approximately 374 thousand euros.
It was stated that the investigation into the incident is being conducted by a customs inspector under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.
