Access to forest areas banned in Elazığ
It has been announced that entry into forest areas in Elazığ is prohibited until September 30.
In a written statement from the Governor's Office, it was stated that the "Forest Fire Prevention Commission Meeting" was held at the Governor's Office Meeting Hall under the chairmanship of Governor Ömer Toraman, and as a result of the decisions taken at the meeting, entry into forests has been prohibited from July 4 to September 30 in accordance with the relevant law.
The statement, which noted that various decisions were taken at the meeting, included the following:
"It is prohibited to take breaks, have picnics, light barbecues, samovars, or fires around or near forests; to camp or set up camps in forest areas outside of designated camping businesses; and to burn stubble, garden or field waste, branches, or any kind of vegetation in villages and neighborhoods throughout Elazığ."
The statement, which emphasized that all necessary precautions must be taken and fire extinguishing equipment must be kept ready, also noted that fireworks and flammable materials that could cause fires will not be permitted at weddings and similar organizations near forest areas, and that legal action will be taken against those who act in violation of the decisions and measures in accordance with the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code.
The statement added that the list of forest and picnic areas prohibited by the commission's decision has been shared on the Governor's Office website.
