Attack on taxi driver in Izmir caught on camera: Retired police officer driver fires warning shots to fend off attacker
In the Bayraklı district of Izmir, a taxi driver, who is reportedly a retired police officer, was attacked by a passenger. The moments the driver fended off the attacker by firing into the air were captured by the vehicle's dashcam.
The incident, which took place on October 27 at approximately 23:35, occurred on Kubilay Street in the Yamanlar neighborhood of Izmir's Bayraklı district. According to the information obtained, the taxi driver, identified as 53-year-old retired police officer Ü.Ü., picked up a passenger named H.H. (22) while on duty. A dispute broke out between them for reasons yet to be determined.
ATTACKED WITH PUNCHES AND SLAPS
As the argument escalated, H.H. attacked the taxi driver, Ü.Ü., with punches and slaps. The driver, attempting to calm the attacker down, got out of his vehicle. However, H.H. followed him and continued the assault. In response, Ü.Ü. fired his handgun into the air to drive the attacker away.

CAMERA RECORDED EVERYTHING
It was determined that the attacker, H.H., caused damage to the taxi even after being driven away. Those moments were captured second-by-second by the security camera inside the vehicle. It was also determined that a person named A.D. (37), who tried to break up the fight, was involved in the incident.

3 SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Following the incident, police teams took Ü.Ü., H.H., and A.D. into custody. While the retired police officer Ü.Ü. and A.D. were released under judicial control, H.H. was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
