Attention Istanbul residents: These roads will be closed to traffic
Various roads and transit stops in Istanbul will be temporarily closed to traffic for International Women's Day.
Numerous traffic regulations are being implemented in Istanbul due to International Women's Day events on March 8. In an announcement made by the Istanbul Police Department, it was stated that some main routes in Kadıköy will be closed to traffic starting at 11:00 today. Specifically, in areas where events will be concentrated, the Söğütlüçeşme Street Tramway, Bahariye Street Tramway, and Albay Faik Sözdener Street Tramway will be closed to vehicle traffic.
On the other hand, some restrictive measures are also being introduced in public transportation. According to a statement made by Metro Istanbul via its social media account, in line with the decision of the Istanbul Governor's Office, the Taksim station of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will not serve passengers starting from 15:00 today until further notice. Additionally, at the Şişhane station, only the exit leading to Istiklal Street will be closed to passenger entry and exit; other exits will remain available for use.
The statement emphasized that trains will not stop at the Taksim station and will continue their journeys, and it is important for passengers to plan their travel accordingly in advance.
