The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued a yellow code warning for Mardin, Diyarbakır, Bingöl, Batman, Siirt, Şırnak, Hakkari, Van, Ağrı, Bitlis, and Urfa.

It was stated that heavy rain is expected in these provinces starting from the early morning hours, while heavy sleet and snow are expected in areas above an altitude of 2,000 meters.

The statement from the Meteorology office included the following:

Starting from the early morning hours of Tuesday (07.05.2024), intermittent and local heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the vicinity of Mardin, Diyarbakır, Bingöl, Batman, Siirt, Şırnak, Hakkari, Van, Ağrı, and Bitlis, as well as the eastern part of Şanlıurfa. The precipitation is expected to fall as heavy sleet and snow in the southern parts of Van, the northern parts of Hakkari, the eastern parts of Şırnak, and in areas of Ağrı and Bitlis above 2,000 meters in altitude. Caution and measures should be taken against negative conditions such as flash floods, inundation, lightning, local hail, sudden strong winds and short-term storms, as well as icing and frost in high and mountainous areas, and disruptions in transportation.
