Boat sinks after hitting rocks in Fethiye: 6 rescued, 1 missing
Six people have been rescued after their boat hit rocks and sank in the Fethiye district of Muğla. One person from the boat remains missing, and search operations have been launched in the area.
In an accident that occurred during the night in the Fethiye district of Muğla, a boat sailing off the coast of Kumburnu Beach in the Ölüdeniz neighborhood was pushed toward the shore by strong winds. The boat hit the rocks, took on water, and sank.
Upon notification by bystanders to the 112 Emergency Call Center, Coast Guard teams, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams, and medical personnel were dispatched to the area.
The 6 people on board were rescued by the teams and handed over to medical personnel. The injured received initial treatment at the scene.
Investigations revealed that there were a total of 7 people on the boat and that 1 person was missing. Consequently, teams launched an operation to locate the missing individual.
Despite adverse weather conditions and ongoing rainfall, search efforts are continuing, with Coast Guard diving teams conducting operations at sea and gendarmerie teams searching on land.
