Drunk driver caught for the third time: Fined 390 thousand TL, license suspended until 2032

In an accident that occurred on Mimar Sinan Neighborhood Manavgat Street in the Manavgat district of Antalya, a car with license plate 07 AHJ 828, driven by Ziya Furkan R. and traveling from the direction of Side toward Çakalderesi, struck a motorcycle with license plate 07 BOJ 996, driven by Mehmet Şerif U., who had moved from the sidewalk onto the road while traveling in the same direction.

The motorcycle rider, who was injured by the impact, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial intervention by 112 emergency health teams dispatched to the scene. It was learned that the injured person is in good health.

Following the incident, an investigation by the Manavgat Police Department Traffic Inspection Bureau teams determined that the car driver, Ziya Furkan R., had a blood alcohol level of 1.16 promille. It was determined that the driver had previously been processed for driving under the influence, that his license had been temporarily suspended, and that he was driving despite this.

390 THOUSAND TL FINE IMPOSED, LICENSE SUSPENDED UNTIL 2032

A total fine of 390 thousand TL was imposed on the car driver: 150 thousand TL for driving under the influence for the third time, 200 thousand TL for driving without a license despite his license having been suspended for drunk driving, and 40 thousand TL to the vehicle owner. His driver's license was also confiscated until 2032.

It was learned that when the driver, who could not hide his astonishment at the fine, asked about it, the traffic police responded by saying, "I guess you are not aware of the new penalties." When the driver asked when he would be able to get his license back, he was informed that the licenses of those caught driving under the influence for the third time are permanently revoked.

After the procedures, the drunk driver was taken to the police station to have his statement taken.
