Femicide in Istanbul: Woman in the process of divorce murdered by her husband!

Femicides continue to make headlines in Turkey with a new victim every day. Unfortunately, this time the location was Istanbul's Başakşehir district. On the night of July 8, 2025, 43-year-old Songül Budak, who lived in the Altınşehir neighborhood, lost her life after being shot with a firearm in her home by her husband, from whom she was in the process of divorcing.

The sound of gunshots heard toward midnight caused panic in the neighborhood, and neighbors immediately notified the police and medical teams. Medical teams that arrived quickly at the scene determined that Songül Budak had lost her life. The cries of the woman's relatives, who arrived at the scene, were heartbreaking. The immense shock experienced by the family members, devastated by the tragic news, was recorded by mobile phone cameras.

The suspect, who fled after the incident, was captured by police teams shortly thereafter and taken into custody. A comprehensive investigation into the murder has been launched.

According to the information obtained, the late Songül Budak was a mother of two, and one of her children is currently performing their military service.
