Fire at Hendek Women's Open Penal Institution
A fire broke out at the Hendek Women's Open Penal Institution. 11 inmates who were slightly affected by smoke inhalation were taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred at the Hendek Women's Open Penal Institution located in the Hendek district of Sakarya. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out in the storage area of the institution at around 22:00. The fire was brought under control in a short time with the intervention of institution personnel and fire brigade teams who arrived at the scene.
11 inmates who were slightly affected by smoke inhalation were taken to the hospital as a precaution for health checks.
It was noted that there were no inmates or personnel in life-threatening condition. A statement regarding the incident was made by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses.
The statement included the following:
"In order to ensure the public is accurately informed, it is requested that statements to be made by official authorities regarding the matter be taken into consideration."
