Fire in a 26-story building in Ankara: Multiple deaths and injuries reported!
A fire that broke out on the fourth floor of a 26-story residence in Ankara's Çankaya district has left 3 people dead and 27 others injured in various ways.
Terrifying moments were experienced in the capital, Ankara, during the night. A fire broke out for reasons yet to be determined at around 10:00 PM on the fourth floor of a 26-story residence located in the Yaşamkent neighborhood of the Çankaya district. The flames spread rapidly, reaching the upper floors of the building.
Following reports from citizens, numerous fire, police, medical, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the scene. People trapped in the building during the fire were rescued through the intensive efforts of firefighting teams. UMKE teams set up an emergency response tent at the scene to provide initial medical intervention.
Tragically, 63-year-old Muharrem Çetinkaya, 33-year-old Hüsniye Çelik Şahin, and 3.5-month-old Aras Şahin lost their lives in the fire. In the disaster, a total of 27 people, including 20 citizens affected by smoke inhalation or injured in various ways, and 7 firefighters on duty, were taken under treatment. The injured were transported to hospitals in the region by ambulance.
Firefighting crews are continuing cooling operations in the building after fully extinguishing the blaze. A multi-faceted investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
