Fire tragedy at a perfume warehouse in Kocaeli! 6 workers, including 2 children, lost their lives

A fire broke out at a 2-story perfume filling facility in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Kocaeli's Dilovası district at 09:00. The fire, which started for an unknown reason, grew in a short time. The flames also spread to the roof of a building located next to the workplace. Citizens notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

The teams that arrived at the scene extinguished the fire. While 6 workers lost their lives in the fire, 5 people were injured, one of them critically. It was learned that 2 of those who lost their lives were child workers aged 16 and 17.

KOCAELİ GOVERNOR: WE LOST 6 OF OUR CITIZENS

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, and district mayors arrived in the region to conduct inspections.

Making a statement after the inspection, Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş said, "Unfortunately, we lost 6 of our citizens in the fire. We have a total of 4 injured, with 1 citizen in critical condition. From the very first moment of the incident, our colleagues carried out search and rescue efforts, primarily to extinguish the fire. The fire was already brought under control in a very short time. Cooling works were also carried out. Necessary investigations regarding the cause of the fire are being conducted under the coordination of the public prosecutor. I wish our citizens a speedy recovery, and may God have mercy on those who lost their lives. There are also colleagues of ours who survived the fire. The workplace has a license. We have also discussed this with our Minister of Labor. Everything will be investigated, and examinations will be carried out regarding the cause of the incident, the status of the business, and its administrative procedures. We have also spoken with our Minister of Labor. He has also given the instructions. All necessary research and examinations will be carried out."
