SNOW ACCUMULATION EXPECTED IN NORTHWEST ISTANBUL

In MGM's latest report, it was stated that up to 15 centimeters of snow is expected due to the snowfall that will be effective especially in the northwestern region of Istanbul. The report in question from MGM is as follows:

According to the forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The country overall is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with precipitation expected in the east of Marmara, the Central and Eastern Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Western and Central Black Sea, the west of Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, Kütahya, Giresun, Erzurum, Muş, Bitlis, Karaman, and the inner parts of Rize.

Precipitation is expected to be in the form of rain on the Mediterranean coasts, the Central Black Sea coasts, and around Giresun, and in the form of sleet and snow in other areas receiving precipitation. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the northwest of Istanbul, the east of Kırklareli, and the northeast of Tekirdağ.

The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in Marmara and the Coastal Aegean. In the morning and night hours, icing and frost are expected in the inner and eastern parts, along with mist and occasional fog. There is an avalanche danger in the high parts of the inner sections of the Eastern Black Sea and on the high and steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia.

HEAVY SNOWFALL WARNING: Since locally heavy (5-15 cm) snowfall is expected in the northwest of Istanbul, the east of Kırklareli, and the northeast of Tekirdağ, it is necessary to be careful and cautious against negative conditions such as icing, frost, and disruptions in transportation.

STRONG WIND WARNING: Since the wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in the west of Marmara and the Coastal Aegean, it is necessary to be careful and cautious against potential negative conditions.

AVALANCHE DANGER AND ICING AND FROST WARNING: Due to the expected avalanche danger on the steep and sloping slopes of the high inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the east of Eastern Anatolia, as well as icing and frost, which will be locally heavy in the inner and eastern parts of the country, it is necessary to be careful and cautious against potential negative conditions.
