General Directorate of Meteorology announces: What will the weather be like today?

A new meteorological alarm has been issued for İzmir and Manisa, where forest fires have been ongoing for days. According to the latest forecast from the General Directorate of Meteorology, very strong winds are expected in the region alongside rising temperatures. It was stated that there is a risk of flames spreading due to the wind, especially in fire-affected areas, and citizens and officials were warned to be cautious against potential dangers.

NORTHERN TURKEY IS COOL, THE SOUTH IS SCORCHING

The weather across the country varies significantly from north to south. According to meteorological data, cool weather continues to prevail in the northern parts, while temperatures in the southern regions are hovering above seasonal norms. It was noted that despite the cool air, a stifling atmosphere may form in the morning hours due to the effect of humidity.

According to the forecast published today by the General Directorate of Meteorology, partly to very cloudy weather will prevail in the northern parts of Turkey. Local downpours and thunderstorms are expected along the Eastern Black Sea coast, in the vicinity of Ordu, and in the northeast of Eastern Anatolia. It was reported that rainfall will be locally heavy, particularly in the western districts of Trabzon and the eastern districts of Giresun. In other regions, generally clear and slightly cloudy weather is expected.

Thermometers are expected to show temperatures 1 to 3 degrees below seasonal norms in the northern and inland parts, while they will measure 2 to 4 degrees above seasonal norms along the western and southern coasts. This temperature difference is being monitored closely, especially in regions with fire risks.

STRONG WIND ALARM ISSUED

Winds are expected to blow strongly (40-60 kilometers per hour) in the south of Marmara, the Aegean coast, Central Anatolia, the east of the Eastern Mediterranean, and the west of Eastern Anatolia. The Meteorology department emphasized that precautions should be taken against negative consequences such as roof damage, fallen trees, and disruptions in transportation in these regions. It was stated that these winds could reignite flames in fire-affected areas and create risks in regions currently under control.

In Istanbul, the weather, which was cool during the night, became stifling in the morning hours due to the effect of humidity. The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that although temperatures are below seasonal norms, the perceived temperature has increased due to high humidity, and caution should be exercised, especially during the morning hours.
