Grandfather shot in front of his grandchildren: Footage captured on security camera

In Mersin, a grandfather taking his grandchildren on a motorcycle was shot by a motorcycle-riding assailant. The incident occurred on Efrenk Kordonu Street in the Alsancak neighborhood of the central Toroslar district.

According to the information received, 56-year-old Salih Şahin was riding a motorcycle with his grandchildren when he was subjected to an armed attack by another individual on a motorcycle. Şahin, who was shot in the head with a handgun, fell along with the motorcycle, while his young grandchildren experienced shock during the incident.

While the motorcycle-riding suspect fled, the children took refuge in a nearby house. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Critically wounded, Şahin was taken by ambulance to Mersin University Hospital, where he was placed under treatment.

The moment of the incident was captured second-by-second on a security camera. The footage shows the motorcycle-riding assailant firing at Şahin with a handgun and the motorcycle overturning. The footage also shows the wounded man's grandchildren fleeing to a nearby house in shock from the event.

The police have launched an investigation to apprehend the suspect.
