Heavy rainfall is coming after scorching heat
The heatwave affecting all of Turkey is coming to an end in the western provinces. Starting Sunday, temperatures will drop by 10 degrees at once in Marmara and the Aegean, accompanied by heavy rainfall. The weather will cool down in Istanbul, while temperatures reaching 42 degrees will continue in the east.
The sweltering heat that has been effective for weeks will give way to heavy rainfall and cooler weather in the western regions of Turkey starting Sunday. According to the latest forecast report from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, heavy rainfall will be effective in many cities, especially in Marmara and the Aegean. While a sharp drop in temperatures is expected, a "cool break" will be experienced in the middle of summer.
ISTANBUL WILL COOL DOWN BY 10 DEGREES AT ONCE
Air temperatures in Istanbul, which have been hovering above 35 degrees throughout the week, will drop to the 25-degree level starting Sunday. With this sudden change in temperature, a warning has been issued for citizens to be careful against both the rainfall and the change in weather.
While strong downpours are expected, especially in the Marmara Region, rain will also be seen intermittently in the central and western parts of the Black Sea. Provinces in the northwest of Central Anatolia may also receive their share of local downpours.
THE EAST IS STILL LIKE FIRE: IT WILL SEE 42 DEGREES
While coolness and precipitation are being discussed in the west, scorching temperatures will continue to be effective in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. In Diyarbakır, thermometers are expected to show 42 degrees on Monday. The Meteorological Service stated that temperatures in these regions will still hover above seasonal norms. Warnings against sunstroke and heat-related health risks were reiterated.
WEATHER WILL BALANCE OUT IN THE NEW WEEK
According to meteorological experts, air temperatures across Turkey are expected to be more balanced and closer to seasonal norms in the second half of the week. However, the coolness to be experienced in the west on Sunday and Monday will once again reveal how sharp weather transitions can be.
