In Istanbul, a student identified as Y.K., who is alleged to be Iraqi, was expelled from a private high school in the Eyüpsultan district in December 2023 following issues he had with his teacher and subsequently the school principal, İbrahim Oktugan, according to information obtained.

According to a report by NTV, Y.K., who was expelled from the school due to problems with his teachers, returned to the high school 5 months later and entered the office of school principal İbrahim Oktugan.

In the incident, which occurred around 10:00 AM, Y.K. drew a weapon he had brought with him, targeted the school principal, and fired 5 shots, critically wounding İbrahim Oktugan. Y.K. then fled the scene.

Students and teachers who heard the gunshots rushed out of their classrooms in a panic. Teachers who arrived at the office found the school principal on the floor covered in blood and notified the police.

ATTACKER CAPTURED

Police teams arriving at the scene took extensive security measures in the area and launched an operation to capture the fleeing suspect.

According to information obtained, it was reported that the attacker has been captured.

Meanwhile, 4 students were taken to the police station to have their statements taken.
