Yelena D., a deputy branch manager at a bank in the Kazakh city of Aktau, disappeared in 2009 after approving a $200,000 loan for a client to purchase a home. Bank officials initially contacted the police, fearing that Yelena D. might have been kidnapped or fallen victim to an accident. However, an investigation revealed that she had embezzled the money.

Unable to locate Yelena D., Kazakh authorities suspected she might have fled the country and requested an Interpol Red Notice.
