Minister Göktaş gives date for maternity leave

Responding to journalists' questions before the AKP parliamentary group meeting, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş provided information on the maternity leave regulation and the work being carried out regarding legal protection mechanisms for children.

FINAL STAGE IN MATERNITY LEAVE REGULATION

Touching upon the process for the maternity leave regulation to enter into force, Göktaş shared the following information regarding the timeline:

'We expect the regulation to be published in the Official Gazette this evening. It will enter into force immediately after its publication. Mothers will be able to make their applications within 10 days. We will share all the details regarding the subject on our ministry's website. Our citizens can follow the process from there.'

NEW STEPS IN THE CHILD PROTECTION LAW

Referring to her meeting with Yılmaz Tunç, Göktaş stated that new regulations are being worked on within the scope of the Child Protection Law.

Stating that some topics in the legislation are being re-evaluated following the incidents in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, Göktaş made the following assessment:

'There are points that we need to clarify within the scope of the legal legislation regarding our Child Protection Laws. We are taking strong steps, such as the direct involvement of the Ministry of Family in some commissions and ensuring our ministry is directly informed of precautionary decisions. This is extremely valuable in terms of our protective and preventive mechanisms.'

Minister Göktaş stated that the goal is to make preventive measures more effective alongside the social risk map studies, and used the following expressions:

'Especially in this period when we are conducting the social risk map, it is essential that we take these steps so that we can take our preventive measures before a case even occurs. Our goal is to strengthen the mechanisms that will protect our children from all kinds of risks.'
