Missing for 6 days: Elderly man's dismembered body found in Çorum
The lifeless body of 76-year-old Ali Osman Kaya, who had been missing for 6 days in Çorum, was found in a stream bed, placed inside trash bags. While Kaya's head could not be located, a suspect believed to be connected to the incident has been taken into custody.
76-year-old Ali Osman Kaya, who lived in the Ulukavak neighborhood of Çorum, had not been heard from since he left his home on the afternoon of January 28. Following a missing person report filed by his relatives, security forces launched a search operation. Investigations determined that Kaya was last seen in the vicinity of Çatak Nature Park.

SEARCHES INTENSIFIED AT ÇATAK NATURE PARK
Teams from the Çorum Provincial Gendarmerie Command and AFAD supported the efforts coordinated by the Çorum Provincial Police Department's Homicide Bureau. The six-day search operation was concentrated in the area where Kaya was last spotted.
BODY FOUND IN STREAM BED
On the sixth day of the search, teams consisting of AFAD personnel, volunteers, gendarmerie and police officers, and non-governmental organizations conducted a sweep with the participation of drones and tracking dogs. Kaya's lifeless body was found in a stream bed near Çatak Nature Park, dismembered and placed inside trash bags. During the searches conducted in the area, the head portion of the body could not be found.

SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that Kaya had boarded a vehicle with the license plate 19 AK 799 after leaving his home. Following this development, a suspect identified as A.F.K. (43) was taken into custody. The teams' investigations in the area and search efforts to locate the missing body part are ongoing.
