Oil discovered on Dicle University campus: 6 drilling wells to be opened

A notable collaboration has been implemented between Dicle University and SANKO Holding. It was reported that following seismic studies conducted on the university campus, oil deposits were discovered, and plans are in place to open a total of 6 drilling wells at two separate locations.

10-YEAR CONTRACT SIGNED

A 10-year agreement was signed between Dicle University and SANKO Holding. In a statement regarding the matter, the university said, 'As a result of seismic exploration activities carried out on the parcel numbered 41 in block 7567, located in the Yiğitçavuş neighborhood of the Sur district in Diyarbakır, which belongs to our university, a request was made to lease the relevant area for 10 years for the purpose of opening drilling wells. As a result of technical and administrative evaluations, the request in question was found appropriate by the decision of the University Board of Directors; subsequently, the process was completed by obtaining the necessary permits from the affiliated Ministry of National Education,' the statement read.

6 DRILLING WELLS TO BE OPENED IN TWO AREAS

The statement indicated that drilling activities will be carried out at two different locations identified within the campus. Accordingly, work will be conducted in the 18,465.83 square meter area located behind the Faculty of Law and the 27,328.29 square meter area located below the football field. Within the scope of the activities to be carried out on a total area of 45,794.12 square meters, including roads, it is aimed to open three wells in each area, for a total of 6 wells to be put into operation.

PRODUCTION TARGET: HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF BARRELS

While the installation cost of the drilling operations is estimated to be approximately 20 million dollars, in the event that oil is found, an average daily production of 150 barrels per well is planned. It is stated that this production amount could reach approximately 328 thousand 500 barrels on an annual basis.
