Operation against criminal organization laundering betting money through citizens' IBANs: 2.2 billion TL transaction volume detected

Teams from the Hatay Police Department carried out an operation against a criminal organization determined to be laundering proceeds from illegal betting by circulating them through citizens' bank accounts. An investigation was launched after approximately 2.2 billion TL in money traffic was detected in account movements analyzed in MASAK reports.

As a result of technical and physical surveillance by police teams, it was determined that the suspects were conducting illegal betting activities from two separate offices. Following this, simultaneous operations were carried out on April 30, centered in Hatay and extending to Mersin, Antalya, Diyarbakır, and Istanbul.

While a total of 22 suspects were apprehended and detained during the operations, numerous digital materials, as well as bank and credit cards, were seized during searches of the addresses.

Additionally, precautionary measures were applied to a 2021 model Audi automobile, a 2024 model Citroen vehicle, and a 2024 model CFMoto motorcycle, which were assessed to have been obtained through criminal activity.

Of the suspects referred to the courthouse following their processing at the police station, 20 were arrested and sent to prison. Two individuals were released by the prosecutor's decision after providing their statements.
