Operation against entertainment venues in Ankara employing foreign women

A human trafficking investigation was conducted regarding allegations that foreign women were brought to Turkey and illegally employed in entertainment venues in Ankara. 29 suspects were detained in operations carried out by police teams.

Within the scope of the investigation, a total of 38 women—13 from Kazakhstan, 11 from Russia, 4 from Belarus, 5 from Ethiopia, 3 from Ukraine, 1 from Brazil, and 1 from Kenya—who were working in the inspected entertainment centers were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. Deportation proceedings were initiated for the women, for whom deportation orders were issued.

In the second phase of the operations, 9 more foreign women were identified in 5 different entertainment venues. The women, who underwent health checks, were referred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for the completion of their procedures.

During the inspections, it was determined that some businesses had obtained work permits for the foreign women, listing them as waitstaff and cleaning personnel, but were employing them in different capacities. It was learned that inspections of the venues in question have been increased.
