It has been determined that illegal betting proceeds were being circulated through ATMs. In simultaneous operations conducted in three provinces, 11 suspects were apprehended, and 123 million TL in account activity was identified.
An operation was conducted in Istanbul against suspects determined to be facilitating the circulation of illegal betting proceeds.
In an investigation coordinated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch determined that money obtained from illegal betting activities was being withdrawn via ATMs and introduced into the system.
Examinations revealed that the suspects were regularly withdrawing money from ATMs in Bahçelievler, Avcılar, and Bakırköy, operating on a 24-hour basis with a shift system. It was determined that the suspects were tracking betting proceeds through software on their mobile phones and acting as intermediaries for the transfer of these funds.
Furthermore, it was discovered that there was a total transaction volume of 123 million liras in the bank accounts belonging to the suspects.
The teams conducted simultaneous operations in three provinces, centered in Istanbul and including Kocaeli and Hakkari, to seize digital materials believed to have been used in the crime and to apprehend the suspects. 11 people were taken into custody during the operation. The investigation is ongoing.
