Published in the Official Gazette: New bans introduced for alcoholic beverage brands
With the new regulation published in the Official Gazette and now in effect, rules regarding brand and promotional activities for alcoholic beverages have been expanded. Bans have been imposed on the use of brands, logos, and visuals in many locations, ranging from workplaces to event areas.
The "Law on Amendments to the Soil Conservation and Land Use Law and Certain Other Laws," published in the Official Gazette, has entered into force. Within the scope of the regulation, new provisions regarding the promotion and brand usage of alcoholic beverages have been implemented.
VISIBILITY OF BRANDS AND LOGOS RESTRICTED
According to the new regulation, names, brands, logos, and emblems belonging to companies that produce, import, or market alcoholic beverages, as well as the beverages themselves, cannot be used in the interior or exterior sections of workplaces.
NEW RULES FOR SHOP WINDOWS AND SALES POINTS
With the law, the display of expressions, shapes, names, signs, and visuals found on alcoholic beverage packaging in shop windows, sales units, and event areas has also been included in the scope of the ban.
PROMOTIONAL ELEMENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT EVENTS
The regulation also prevents the use of visual and promotional materials belonging to alcoholic beverage brands in event areas. Accordingly, brand names, logos, and emblems cannot be displayed visibly for commercial promotional purposes.
BAN ON BRAND USAGE ACROSS PRODUCT GROUPS
The law also introduces a limitation on the use of alcoholic beverage brands across different product categories. Accordingly, fermented alcoholic beverage brands cannot be used as distilled alcoholic beverage brands, and distilled alcoholic beverage brands cannot be used as fermented alcoholic beverage brands.
