Scale of flood disaster revealed at daybreak: Kozan-Kayseri highway in Adana closed to traffic

Scale of flood disaster revealed at daybreak: Kozan-Kayseri highway in Adana closed to traffic

Following the flood disaster that occurred overnight in the Kozan district, the damage was revealed at daybreak. The Kozan-Kayseri highway has been completely closed to traffic.

Saimbeyli District Governor Emre Aydın and Saimbeyli Mayor Mahmut Dal announced that the district entrances and exits have been closed for security reasons in the area, which has become unusable due to rockfalls and landslides.

Mayor Mahmut Dal stated that the rainfall reached disaster proportions, saying, "The highway has become completely unusable. The Göksu River has taken on water far beyond its capacity, and its flow rate continues to rise.

The Metropolitan Municipality's slaughterhouse has also been submerged. Together with our District Governor's office, our municipality, and our security forces, we are trying to intervene with heavy machinery while ensuring public safety," he said.

Road clearing efforts by teams are ongoing in the region.
