Secure Payment System for real estate sales postponed

The Ministry of Trade has postponed the date on which the secure payment application will become mandatory for real estate transactions to October 1, 2026. It was reported that the decision was made to allow relevant institutions to complete their technical infrastructure work.

SECURE PAYMENT SYSTEM POSTPONED BY THREE MONTHS

In a statement from the Ministry, it was noted that the Secure Payment System was developed to prevent buyers and sellers from encountering risks such as fraud, theft, and forgery, to reduce the informal economy, and to make payment processes more secure.

Under the previous regulation, it had been made mandatory for payments in real estate sales to be conducted through the Secure Payment System if the entire amount or a portion of it was to be paid via cash, bank transfer, or EFT, effective from July 1, 2026. The system aims to ensure that the transfer of the property and the sale price occur simultaneously.

TECHNICAL WORK CITED AS REASON

The statement indicated that the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre and relevant institutions are continuing their technical infrastructure work. It was noted that the authority granted by the regulation was exercised to ensure the system could be implemented without issues, and the mandatory implementation date was postponed to October 1, 2026.

Thus, the Secure Payment System will become mandatory for use in real estate transactions as of October 1, 2026.
