Some roads closed on the European and Asian sides of Istanbul

Istanbul is experiencing a busy weekend. Due to road races and competitions held on both the European and Asian sides as of this morning, significant changes have been implemented in urban transportation. Because of the events that began in the early morning hours, vehicle traffic has been temporarily halted on many main streets and avenues.

WIDE-RANGING TRAFFIC MEASURES TAKEN

To ensure the safety of the running and race courses in the city, meticulous traffic measures were taken by the Istanbul Police Department teams, and the designated roads were opened exclusively for the use of athletes.

TRAFFIC HALTED ON THE COASTLINE AND SURROUNDING AREAS IN BEŞİKTAŞ

Within the scope of the road race held in Beşiktaş, major transit points, especially along the coastline and the Bosphorus line, were among the first areas to be closed. Traffic restrictions, which began at the intersection of İnşirah Street and Hüsrev Gerede Street, extended to major routes such as Küçük Bebek Street, Boğaziçi University Bebek Slope, Muallim Naci Street, and Sakıp Sabancı Street. Additionally, vehicle access was not permitted around the Aşiyan Road and Baltalimanı Hisar Street areas.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES ACTIVATED

Alternative routes have been announced for those who will be driving in the regions affected by the restrictions. Drivers can use roads such as Portakal Slope, Dereboyu Street, Ahmet Adnan Saygun Street, and Nispetiye Street as alternatives. It was also reported that main arteries such as the side streets around Kuruçeşme and Arnavutköy, as well as Çırağan Street, will remain open.

SOME ROADS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC IN ATAŞEHİR

On the Asian side, the Ataşehir region has been active with sports events since the morning hours. Starting with Ataşehir Boulevard and Fazılpaşa Street, roads included in the race course and their surrounding connecting roads have been closed to vehicle traffic.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WARNING TO DRIVERS

Drivers have been asked to pay maximum attention to traffic signs and directions during the events and to prefer public transportation if possible. It is aimed to reopen the closed roads to traffic in a controlled manner once the events conclude.
