Spreads to Uludağ University's forested area

While aerial and ground interventions continue, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey announced that dormitories within the campus have been evacuated and that the flames are spreading rapidly. Fires have also broken out in Muratpaşa, Antalya, and Marmaris, Muğla, with firefighting teams mobilized to bring them under control.

A stubble fire broke out in the Nilüfer district of Bursa. The fire grew as it spread to the forest, which includes the Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) campus, and dormitories within the campus were evacuated as a precaution.

Following reports of the fire, ground intervention began with 150 personnel, supported by 4 helicopters from the air. Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş stated, "We are currently intervening from the air with 1 helicopter belonging to our Gendarmerie. A helicopter belonging to the Regional Directorate of Forestry is also being dispatched to the region. Teams are making intense efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to the buildings on campus. They are working to bring the fire under control as soon as possible."

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who went to the scene, said, "I hope we will bring this fire under control in a short time and we will all be relieved. It is truly in a large area; the fire is currently continuing. It is spreading gradually due to the effect of the wind. Of course, our fire brigade teams, 16 fire crews, around 20 tankers, water tenders, and nearly 40 vehicles in total are currently in the field. Our machinery and bulldozers are also in the field. But on the other hand, we see that the fire is progressing due to the throwing of pine cones. This saddens us all. We are currently trying to cut off its path."

In the continuation of his statement regarding the fire, Bozbey said, "Nearly 150 personnel are in the field, and 4 helicopters, as well as planes and helicopters, are constantly providing support right now. But we see that its path has not been cut off yet. We hope that in a short time, if the wind slows down a little, we will be able to contain it and we hope that we will have avoided a major incident."

Pointing out that the fire is continuing in an area with pine trees and that it is growing as pine cones scatter, Bozbey stated that the animals on the campus have been evacuated to safe areas. Bozbey also stated that the student dormitories would be evacuated.

2 HORSES RESCUED FROM CAMPUS

While firefighting efforts continue, AKUT and the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch HAYDİ teams rescued two horses and a tortoise found on the campus from the flames.
