Stone attack on Atatürk statue: Suspect detained
In Elazığ, an individual attacked an Atatürk statue with a stone. The attacker was apprehended and taken into custody following a report.
A suspect who attacked the Atatürk statue located in the city center of Elazığ with a stone in their hand has been detained.
The incident occurred around noon in front of the former teachers' house on Gazi Street. An individual climbed onto the Atatürk statue there and began striking the head of the statue with a stone.
When bystanders reacted, the suspect fled the scene. Police, who arrived in the area following a report, apprehended the suspect after an investigation.
The suspect, who is reported to be a schizophrenia patient, remains in police custody as processing continues.
