The greeting that changed a municipal driver's life: He found his biological father and became a partner in a fortune
The life of Cihan Yıldırım, who worked as a municipal bus driver in Muğla, changed with a passenger's greeting. Yıldırım found his biological father, who had been missing for years, and became a partner in a 300 million lira fortune.
Cihan Yıldırım, a married man and father of one in Muğla, was working as a driver for the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality in 2019 when a passenger approached him and said, "Aren't you the son of 'Coal-dealer' Orhan? Take this 1000 lira and give it to your father. We owe him for the coal we bought."

HE THOUGHT HE WAS MISTAKEN FOR SOMEONE ELSE
According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, a bewildered Cihan Yıldırım told the man, "My father's name is Yaşar, and he died in an accident when I was 6 years old. You must have mistaken me for someone else," but the man would not accept it.
The person who gave the money insisted, "You are the son of 'Coal-dealer' Orhan," and walked away.
HE ASKED HIS MOTHER: THE CONFESSION THAT CAME YEARS LATER
When he told his mother, Suzan Yıldırım, about the situation, he learned that she had an illicit affair with businessman Orhan Karaca while working at the courthouse in 1987, and that the child born from this relationship was registered by her legally wedded husband, Yaşar Yıldırım.
After his mother confessed the identity of his real father, Cihan Yıldırım quit his job as a municipal bus driver.
HIS BIOLOGICAL FATHER EMERGED
Cihan Yıldırım filed a lawsuit against businessman Orhan Karaca (63), who deals in wood and coal trade. By court order, the grave of Yaşar Yıldırım, the father who died in a traffic accident when Cihan was 6, was opened. As a result of the examination of the bone sample taken, it was understood that Cihan's father was not Yaşar Yıldırım.
The DNA test determined that Orhan Karaca was his biological father with 99.9 percent certainty. Following an appeal by the opposing party, the case was moved to the Supreme Court of Appeals.
The Supreme Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the 18th Civil Chamber of the İzmir Regional Court of Justice. The Supreme Court's ruling emphasized that the decision rendered by the Regional Court of Justice's Civil Chamber was upheld and that the reasons put forward in the appeal petition were not of a nature to require the reversal of the decision.
HE BECAME THE 3RD CHILD: HE BECAME A PARTNER IN A 300 MILLION LIRA FORTUNE
Cihan Yıldırım was registered under the civil registry of Orhan Karaca, a father of two. Cihan, whose surname changed to Karaca after 36 years, became a partner in his father's fortune, which totals 300 million lira including real estate, along with his two siblings.
Yıldırım won a 350 thousand lira compensation lawsuit he filed due to the failure to acknowledge paternity.
'THEY OFFERED ME A CAR TO DROP THE LAWSUIT'
Yıldırım, who now works as a truck driver, said, "My first task was to apply for a new ID. My surname is now Karaca. I am waiting to receive my ID with my new surname as soon as possible. I grew up without a father for years. This lawsuit and taking the Karaca surname was a matter of pride for me. We won this case, they lost. After a 6-year struggle, I took the Karaca surname."
Cihan Yıldırım alleged that the opposing party offered him a house and a car to drop the lawsuit.
