In the shared footage, it was seen that cattle were kept in mud and their range of motion was restricted. The claim that the animals were made to gain weight in this manner quickly drew backlash.

MINISTRY LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION

Following the footage that caused outrage, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry issued a statement. In the announcement made on the ministry's social media account, it was reported that an investigation had been launched regarding the footage containing behavior contrary to animal welfare.

The statement noted that teams from the Çorum Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted an inspection at the facility in question and that an administrative fine was imposed on the business within the framework of relevant legislation.

BARNS CLEANED

It was stated that after the inspections, necessary interventions were made to eliminate conditions that negatively affect the health and welfare of the animals. The statement included the following remarks:

“The maintenance areas have been cleaned to ensure the animals are housed under appropriate conditions, and necessary arrangements have been made. Any form of neglect or mistreatment regarding the health and welfare of animals is absolutely unacceptable. No person or business that violates this principle will be tolerated. As a ministry, we will continue our inspections with determination across the country to protect animal welfare.”
