Armed attack on EGO bus driver in Ankara
Ö.U., who shot and wounded a municipal bus driver in the leg following an argument in Ankara's Keçiören district, has been taken into custody.
According to a statement from the EGO General Directorate, an argument broke out between the driver and a passenger identified as Ö.U. on the bus operating the 252 EGO route near the Emekli stop on Sanatoryum Street at approximately 15:55.
After displaying aggressive behavior toward the driver's cabin and leaving the scene, Ö.U. arrived at the EGO Atapark Dispatch Point at approximately 17:40 and attacked the driver with whom he had argued with a firearm.
Ö.U. fired three shots, one of which struck the driver in the leg. The driver, who received initial treatment from medical teams called to the dispatch point, was transported to the hospital while conscious.
It was learned that the driver's life is not in danger and that the EGO General Directorate has initiated legal proceedings regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, according to information received, the Ankara Police Department's Public Security Branch Murder Bureau apprehended the identified suspect along with the weapon used in the incident.
The suspect, who is in custody, is expected to be referred to the courthouse following police processing.
