Husband causes terror in Balıkesir: 2 dead, 2 injured
In the Edremit district of Balıkesir, a man who was in the process of separating from his wife caused terror, stabbing his mother-in-law and sister-in-law to death, and injuring his wife and father-in-law.
In an incident that occurred in the Kızılkeçili neighborhood of Balıkesir's Edremit district, it is alleged that Murat Ö. went to speak with his wife, Nezihe Nurçin Ö., whom he was in the process of separating from, in an attempt to reconcile.
When the conversation turned into an argument, the son-in-law, Murat Ö., suffered a nervous breakdown and attacked his father-in-law Ali Rıza Kaya, his mother-in-law Sevim Kaya, and his sister-in-law Gülçin Kaya with a knife.
Upon reports from local citizens, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the attack, Murat Ö.'s sister-in-law, Gülçin Kaya, died at the scene from stab wounds, while his mother-in-law, Sevim Kaya, passed away at the Körfez Hospital where she had been taken.
Nezihe Nurçin Ö., who was severely injured by stab wounds, was taken into surgery at Körfez Hospital, while her father, Ali Rıza Kaya, was injured by stab wounds to his hand.
The murder suspect, Murat Ö., was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams following the incident.
The Edremit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
