A passenger fell into the sea from a cruise ship in the Sea of Marmara. Coast Guard teams are continuing search operations in the area.
A major panic broke out on the Sun Princess passenger ship, which was sailing off the coast of Balıkesir's Marmara Island, after an announcement was made that a person had fallen overboard. Following the announcement, Coast Guard Command teams arrived at the scene and launched a comprehensive search and rescue operation.
A Spanish passenger on board stated in a post on their social media account, "They just announced over the megaphone that a man fell overboard, it feels like a horror movie. The boats are out, the divers are out, we are all on our balconies. No one can sleep because of this situation."
The same passenger described the chaos as follows:
"People were running around in fear, losing their way. We don't know if the person jumped themselves or if someone pushed them. It is said to be a crew member. We were supposed to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow morning at 07:00, but we are currently searching the area where the fall occurred."
While the investigation into the incident continues, it was reported that Coast Guard teams are continuing their search efforts.
