Market robbery in Esenyurt: Suspect threatens employee with a knife and steals 200,000 TL

The incident occurred on Monday, January 6, at a market located on Aşık Şenlik Street in the Yenikent neighborhood of Esenyurt.

According to the information obtained, a masked individual entered the market early in the morning, threatened the employee with a knife, and fled with 200,000 Turkish Liras from the register. The market employee reported the situation to the police.

Upon reviewing security camera footage, police teams determined that the individual had entered the market wearing a mask and then proceeded toward the storage area. Following the footage captured by the market's security cameras, police teams identified the suspect.

The suspect, identified as A.Ö., was taken into custody at his home during an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department's Robbery Bureau. During a search of the suspect's home, the beanie, gloves, neck gaiter, and knife used on the day of the incident were seized. The individual was taken to the Public Security Branch, where he confessed to the crime during questioning.

In his initial statement, the suspect claimed that after the robbery, he first deposited the money into his own bank account and then used it to gamble on online betting sites.

After completing his statement at the Public Security Branch, the suspect A.Ö. was referred to the courthouse. A.Ö. was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
