Warning from Naci Görür following the earthquake in Muğla

According to data from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake centered in Köyceğiz occurred at a depth of 12.04 kilometers. This tremor, which took place at 06:40 in the morning, caused brief panic.

Following the earthquake, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated in a post on his social media account that the earthquake occurred at the intersection of an unnamed northwest-southeast trending fault on the inland continuation of the Muğla Fault Zone. Görür stated that this region is on a normal fault and that Western Anatolia is being stretched in a north-south direction.

Görür's post is as follows:

"A 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred 2 hours ago in the Arıcılar – Ula (Muğla) region. This earthquake took place on the inland continuation of the Muğla Fault Zone and at the intersection point of an unnamed NW-SE trending fault. The fault is a normal fault. Western Anatolia is being stretched in a N-S direction.
